Virginia City – a Historic Frontier Town

Virginia City is one of the most historic frontier towns of the American Old West.  Located a leisurely half hour drive south of Reno-Tahoe International Airport, Silverland Inn & Suites is the most centrally located hotel in Virginia City and will allow you to enjoy everything that our famous city has to offer.

Within minutes you'll find a variety of historical buildings, every one of which resonates with all the wealth, style, and Old West charm that our 19th century mining town was known for.

The Marshall Mint and World Class Gem Museum

The Marshall Mint and Museum at 96 North "C" Street, across the street from the Way it was Museum is in the old Assay Office, built in 1861. The Mint produces fine minted medallions of .999 silver and .9999 gold. The jewelry store offers the most reasonable prices for estate jewelry, Angels of the Day and Lords & Savior Coin series and fine opal, ruby, emerald, peridot, and blue topaz jewelry. See our website at marshallmint.com.

Piper's Opera House

The magnificent Piper's Opera House is located on a hillside overlooking C Street half a mile away.  Long considered among the nation's most famous performance venues, the opera house was built in 1885 and is still in use.  Having recently completed a major restoration, this stylish opera house once welcomed President Ulysses S. Grant, Mark Twain, and Buffalo Bill.

St. Mary in the Mountains Catholic Church

Arguably one of the most important historical structures and institutions in Virginia City, St. Mary in the Mountains Catholic Church was rebuilt by Bishop Manogue after the Great Fire of 1875.  Today the church holds weekly mass, features a museum, and is only half a mile away.

C Street

C Street is the main thoroughfare in town and a stroll along its historic boardwalk will transport you back in time.  Here you'll find shops, museums, mine tours and Old West saloons that'll make you feel like you're right there in the heyday of the booming gold and silver strikes.

Silverland Inn and Suites – the Most Centrally Located Virginia City Hotel

Whether you're in town for business or pleasure, Silverland Inn & Suites provides a unique experience in a city that was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1961.
